Braces for Alton

Alton has begun his journey through adolescence by getting braces. He alternated between being very excited to being very scared for the weeks before, and then after he struggled with the limitations he suddenly had with food options. He seems to be coping very nicely now.

I can commiserate with Alton on the limited food options. 5.5 years in braces is what I got to enjoy. Popcorn, carrots, carmel, beef jerkey and nuts (including cornnuts) were just a few of the things I missed eating.

Does he only need braces on his upper teeth, or will he be getting the bottom teeth done as well?

I agree, it does seem a tough way to start adolesence. I guess none of us have it easy though. I'm glad you included the picture. I don't know that I would have recognized him otherwise! He looks much older since Christmas, somehow.

Hi Milaka, Nicholas has braces, too. He is excited about it, still. He told us that he felt like a real sixth-grader with his braces - because so many of his classmates have braces, too.

His three-year-old cousin asked him why he has a necklace on his teeth.
